Reiki is one of the simplest, oldest and most effective methods of holistic healing known to the civilised world.

Pronounced RAY-KEY, its origins lie in ancient Indian Sutras and in Tibetan practises which are thousands of years old. REI means Universal and Kl is the name for Energy. Reiki is the word the Japanese use to describe the energy which flows along acupuncture meridians and permeates the physical body.

Reiki assists the body to heal as it flows through the energy pathways of the body, gently removing blockages or disruptions in energy flow. It raises the vibration of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. As it heals the energy pathways, it allows the life force energy to flow in a natural way therefore promoting health and well-being on all levels within the body.

Reiki was rediscovered in Japan in the mid-nineteenth century by a Christian monk and Sanskrit Scholar, Dr. Mikao Usui. After working with information found in ancient Sutras and perfecting the process through his meditation, Usui then passed his work onto others including a Japanese Doctor Jujiro Hyashi who he trained to be the Grand Master of Reiki. Hyashi in turn trained many Reiki Masters including an ex patient, a woman named Hawayo Takata. Hawayo Takata had been healed in Hyashi’s Clinic in nine months of an incurable disease. Because she was a woman, she had to beg Hyashi to train her. Before Hyashi died he made her The Grand Master of Reiki. Takata died in 1980 making her granddaughter the head of this Grand Profession. Reiki Master/Teacher, Cassandra Griffiths is carrying on this tradition.
